Vinay Kutagula, MD is a palliative medicine specialist serving on the nationally recognized Supportive and Palliative Care team at BSW Plano. In addition to expertise in palliative medicine with its focus on symptom management, care planning and additional support for patients and families facing serious illness, Dr. Kutagula has further expertise and interest in geriatrics, cognitive deficits, and the challenges of aging. After finishing medical school in India, Dr. Kutagula completed Internal Medicine residency and Geriatrics fellowship in University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He worked as an academic geriatrician in UAMS where he was involved in care of elderly patients across a spectrum of levels of care. He served for 8 years as the Director of Geriatrics Clerkship and developed geriatric and palliative medicine curriculums. During this time, he was honored with four Red Sash Awards as well as Eugene Towbin Award for Excellence in Teaching of Geriatric Medicine. Since moving to DFW area in 2012, he has been involved in acute, post-acute and palliative care in North Dallas area, and has led a successful post-acute practice before transitioning to BSW Supportive and Palliative Care – Plano. He is married with two children, and enjoys reading in his spare time.
